| Q.
What does First Baptist Berkeley believe? A.
We believe God’s love is for all people: female and
male, young and old, gay and straight, conservative and liberal,
those who have a strong belief system and those who have doubt,
and everyone in between. We believe God wants us to help others,
not judge them, and that each person’s life is a journey
toward becoming the person God created them to be. One of
our roles as a community of faith is to encourage and enable
others along that life path.

Q.
How can you be a Baptist church?
A.
There are many different kinds of Baptists. First Baptist
Berkeley is part of the American Baptist Churches USA, a denomination
that has always included people with a wide range of faith

the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists. Some
of our members belong to the Baptist Peace Fellowship of North
